The Northeast Vulnerable Adult Coalition

NET-VAC is a collaborative effort of public and private entities to address the issues of abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults in Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties. The Coalition is dedicated to raising public and professional awareness of the types and extent of abuse and its victims, through community education and outreach campaigns.

June 15, 2009 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

In observation of WEAAD – NET-VAC in conjunction with Various Senior Centers, S.A.L.T. Councils and Churches will offer different events designed to raise awareness of elder abuse in their communities. Below is a partial listing:

NET-VAC Affiliate - Greene County Senior Alliance will hold their 2009 WEAAD observation in conjunction with the Greeneville second annual “Cookout for a Cause” Click here for more information

NET-VAC Affiliate- Jonesborough Senior Center is planning a 9am-2pm event offering elder abuse prevention and “scams” educational programs from Jonesborough Police Department , local banking representative; Fraud Bingo and lunch!

NET-VAC Affiliate- Elizabethton Senior Center and Elizabethton/Carter S.A.L.T Council will present an Educational program presented by a local law enforcement officer.
